Position Summary
This position is for a Staff Research Associate who will work closely with members of the Mindfulness Science and Practice Cluster in developing and implementing collaborative research projects, and in supporting other activities and events associated with the Cluster (e.g., weekly seminar series, yearly WashU Mindfulness Day). The role also provides the option and opportunity to develop or advance an independent line of research and/or scholarship, including, for individuals with appropriate qualifications, serving as Principal Investigator on new grant-proposals soliciting external funding support.
This position is a full-time, time-limited (2-year) staff position, with options to extend if new lines of salary support can be obtained.

Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Research and Project Management
- Collaborate with the Mindfulness Cluster co-Leads and/or related Washington University faculty to develop and implement research or scholarship projects that advance the Cluster’s mission.
- Contribute to the Cluster’s work on existing / new research projects.
- Contribute to Cluster meetings and to university-wide meetings and events related to mindfulness science and practice (e.g., weekly seminars, yearly WashU mindfulness day).
- Engage in independent research, data collection, and/or analysis.
Writing and Scholarship
- Work with the co-leads and participating faculty to write research-grant proposals.
- Write scholarly articles with the Cluster co-leads and collaborating faculty, and submit these articles to peer-reviewed publications.
- With the co-leads and collaborating faculty to help disseminate findings of Cluster research projects.
- Work with the Cluster co-leads and collaborating faculty to develop and write materials relevant to the Cluster’s research projects.
- Develop experimental designs, protocols, and procedures for the Cluster’s research projects.
Professional Development Activities
- Attend conferences and workshops.
- Develop new skills.
- Develop program of research.
Mentoring
- Mentor advanced undergraduate and graduate researchers on research and/or scholarship projects related to area(s) of expertise
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant field.
- Expertise or experience in mindfulness research and practice.
- Substantial background in conducting quantitative or qualitative research or scholarship.
- Excellent project-management and organizational skills, including attention to detail and sensitivity to data quality.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with research personnel at various levels of responsibility (staff, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty).
- Excellent critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility and desire to expand areas of expertise through collaborative work across disciplinary boundaries.
- Ability to work well with diverse individuals across the disciplines and the University as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to manage and complete multiple time-sensitive projects.
- The ability to supervise and mentor postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students who are contributing to the Cluster’s research projects.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the Cluster’s co-leads and with faculty and staff from other academic departments and centers.
- Excellent professionalism and trustworthiness, including the ability to deliver on agreed-upon tasks, and respect for research participants and high scientific and scholarly integrity.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of experience or Master's degree and three years of experience or PhD. and one year of experience.

Salary Range
$47,000.00 - $85,200.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
